External Hard Drive Reviews

Tips on purchasing an external hard drive and what to look for in an external hard drive review.

External Hard Drive Reviews for people (ie. Student, businessmen/women, families) looking into purchasing an external hard drive. There are a few points to take into consideration when purchasing an external hard drive so that you will be getting what you need at a price you can afford. I will list a few below:

1. The first thing to look at is size, think to yourself what you will be storing on the external hard drive, will you be storing pictures, documents, video's, music? These are things you want to think about when deciding which size hard drive you will want to purchase. Sizes can range anywhere from 80 GB to 750 GB. So think about which size will suit your needs, sometimes buying a little bigger is better then buying to small and running out of space.

2. The second thing you should take into consideration would be compatibility with your computer. Most external hard drives these days are plug and play, but some may require drivers to be installed onto your computer, so if you are running an older computer you should check to make sure it will be able to handle the external hard drive and that your operating system is compatible, before purchasing.

3. The third thing to take into consideration is portability. Will you be bringing the hard drive back and forth to work or school? Or loading up pictures and video’s from that trip you took, and wanting to bring them to show your neighbor? Like mentioned above, most external hard drives are plug and play on most computers, but some might not be and may require a drive to be installed on each computer you will be using it on. So if you will be moving the hard drive to different computers, plug and play is the way you should be going.

4. Last thing I would look into when purchasing your external hard drive would be a warranty. Technology breaks down, and most of us don’t want to be stuck with a dead hard drive that we paid money for. Check with the retailer to see if there is an in store warranty or manufactures warranty that will easily replace your external hard drive if it happens to die.

External hard drives have been come an almost necessity these days, with the easy accessibility and wide range of storage sizes, colors and designs to choose from and that they are so easy to use, they are the must have for everyone and anyone. Prices usually range from $20.00 and up depending on size and function, so they are a great buy at an affordable price.

A lot of stores have costumer reviews on their websites for their products, be sure to read the external hard drive reviews and do some research on the internet before buying. Also be sure to shop around and find the right one for the best price. You should purchase the external hard drive that will suit your needs and one that you will be happy with.
