Ray Quinn, who lost out to Leona Lewis in last year's TV talent show final, has gone straight to number one with his debut album Doing It My Way.
Walk This Way, the Comic Relief single from Sugababes vs Girls Aloud, knocked Take That off the singles top spot.
Ray Quinn, 18, said he was "absolutely speechless" at the fact his debut album had gone to number one.
"I feel on top of the world," he said. "I have to keep pinching myself to make sure the last few months have not been a dream."
Quinn celebrated his album triumph with a Mother's Day performance at famous Liverpool club The Cavern, where he has joined singers including The Beatles and David Bowie on the Wall of Fame.
